Fortunately, FOGBEES like to use their cameras.  Most events gather hundreds of digital pictures.  Share these pictures by uploading them to the FOGBEE Photo vault on Shutterfly or to your personal on-line photo stores on Flickr or Picasa.  The storage on Shutterfly is FREE, the upload is fast, and hard-copy prices are competitive.

Flickr provides 250MB (about 200 pictures) and Picasa provides 1GB (about 800 pictures) of FREE storage.  You can buy additional storage for a small annual fee.  Both of these sites allow your friends to download high resolution copies of your pictures, whereas Snapfish requires your friends buy them for $0.05/ea.

All these sites offer a slide show option to view pictures.  Shutterfly, Flickr, and Picasa show great high-res slide shows.  But none can compare to the fantastic features of PhotoShow (subscription service from Roxio).

None of these programs are user-friendly and it takes time playing with them to find where they have hidden all the navigation links.  However, they are worth the effort.  If you need help, just send a note to fogbees@gmail.com .

For retaining & sharing photos with the Group or the general public, use Shutterfly. These programs are best SUITABLE with high-speed Internet connections.
Most popular Photo Sharing program on the Internet.
Although we have started using Snapfish, Flickr has two significant advantages over SnapFish: 1) the Slide Shows are FULL Screen and high quality, and 2) you can down-load FULL resolution copies.  The main disadvantages is the inability to organize into sets, photos submitted by several people in a Group.

With Flickr we have no shared room.  You have your own vault.  Setup a limited FREE Yahoo account and then use your registration to setup your FREE Flickr account.
Organize and share our pictures as a Club.
The photos uploaded to the FOGBEE room on SnapFish are private and can be viewed only by people with Snapfish accounts who have the room code.

To POST or VIEW photos in the FOGBEE Photo Vault, you must be invited.  Contact the Web Master  at

MISCELLANEOUS
Organizing Photos on Flickr

Photos on Flickr are retained in a Photostream in the time sequence in which they were uploaded.  You can assign groups of photos to a SET and distributed a URL to that SET.  Others can view them as a batch or in a slide show.  You can organize photos within a SET so the slide show feature displays pictures in the proper order:

1)  Log in to your personal vault.
2) Click on Your Photostream . Locate the SET that you want to sort (organize) in the SET line-up along the right side and click on Edit under the SET icon.
3) All the photos appear as icons on an easel.  Drag them to a new location thereby sorting them to the order in which they should appear in a slide show of the SET.
4) Once they are in the proper order, click on Save in the lower left.

CLEAN UP PHOTOS BEFORE UP-LOADING

Most of the FOGBEES will use your pictures in the form that you up-load, so, if possible, please follow a couple simple rules before up-loading your pictures.

1) Edit them to re-format (rule of thirds), crop-out extraneous content, and adjust exposure and contrast.  A number of free programs are available on the Internet. See Help in Photo Menu.
2) Upload high resolution, largest format that you have.  Do not reduce or increase JPEG compression.  The Snapfish upload is fairly fast.

However, if the above sounds like greek, don't hesitate to upload.  Any picture is better than no picture.

Four ways to get copies of the pictures on Snapfish

1) FREE Low Res JPEG: (Good for Computer Slide Shows, Web Pages, and MySpace)
    - After logging into the FOGBEE room.  Select any FOGBEE album by clicking on it. Thumbnails of all the photos
           in that album are displayed.
    - From the thunmbnails find the picture you want and click on it to get a large image of it.
    - Right click on the picture you want and select "Save Image as. . .". Windows saves a JPEG copy of this image
on your computer in the location and name you select.

2) Low-Cost High-Res JPEG: ($0.25 for first picture and $0.05 for next pictures.)
   - Follow the instructions above to find the picture that you want.
   - In the right side-bat click on "Download the picture".

3) FREE High Res JPEG: (If you are making a projection slide show, you need Hi-Res JPEG's)
   - Follow the instructions above to find the picture that you want.
   - Copy image # and ask owner of the album to e-mail a copy to you.

4) Order a hard-copy print from Snapfish.
