Hi, my name is Stacey Damken, I am the Development Coordinator for the National MS Society Mid South Chapter. Thank you so much for participating in the 2007 Bike to Jack and Back Bike ride. The 2007 bike ride was a huge success and we hope to make 2008 an even bigger success. Per your 2007 bike ride survey you stated that you would like to be contacted by the society about the bike ride and wanted more information about the society. Below is information about the 2008 bike ride as well as the Bike Committee.
The 2008 Bike to Jack and Back Bike MS will be held on October 4th and 5th this year. The ride will begin in Franklin, TN and end in Lynchburg, TN. Registration is now open so please visit our website at www.msmidsouth.org or contact me and I can register you over the phone. Registration is only $25 before April 30th. Registration will increase as we draw closer to the ride.
The following is a list of hotels. We will provide transportation to and from these hotels. Once these hotels fill up, camping will be available.
Tullahoma Hampton Inn: 931-461-5222
Tullahoma Jameson Inn: 931-455-7891 (ask for state rate for MS Bike Ride: $70+tax)
Tullahoma Executive Inn: 931-455-4501 ($48+tax)
Lynchburg Country Inn: 931-759-5995 ($88+tax)
To help the society put on the bike ride, we have a bike committee. This committee helps us with all aspects of the bike ride, such as logistics, promotions/marketing, teams, ect. We could not put on this great ride without our bike committee. The committee meets once a month to discuss the bike ride and its progress. If you are interested in joining the 2008 Bike to Jack and Back Bike MS committee or would like more information about the committee please contact me.
Thank you for joining the movement last year. I look forward to working with you this year!

Back from Jack 'n' Back
Allen and I took turns driving and sleeping as we returned to Hendersonville. It was a good kind of tired. The kind of tired that characterizes an activity which requires a little more effort than one might have considered giving when first considered. The kind of tired that comes from offering more of yourself to a group than would have been required of an individually driven activity. And, yes, the kind of tired that comes from waking up two mornings in a row with the chickens.
Thanks to all of you FOGBEES who shared yourselves in the MS to Jack 'n' Back charity ride. I hope that the event met or exceeded your expectations. You guys and gals certainly made the 2008 Jack 'n' Back MS 150 one of the best rides of my biking history. I also hope that , before the glow of a good ride fades, you'll think towards next year and consider participating once again.
Just a reminder: November 7 is the final date for any additional contributions on behalf of Team FOGBEES
P.S. Brian, next year I'll serve you a triple Jack on the rocks

Early Rider said... Phil, A great ride indeed and thanks for being a great organizr. I am planning for my third ride next year. Next time I won't have to get back to pack the trailer. Little did I know that that task would also be so much fun with such great friends. Thanks to all of you.
BOB said... This was a great ride and extreamly well organized. I am looking forward to next years Jack & back. Thanks to Phil for setting this one up.
Thanks for MS Donation
I noticed on the NMSS web site that your team was doing very well in donations. That is awesome and I'm proud of your achievements. You may or may not know that my little sister, who lives in Georgia, has been living with MS for 10 years now. She's just been approved for a new experimental treatment to determine the effect a new drug will have in controlling the frequency and severity of her relapses and symptoms. Without your efforts, and the efforts of thousands of cyclists like you, who raise the necessary funds to develop and test these treatments, this treatment would not be possible and would not bring hope to my little sister and the rest of us who support her. She's very excited to be involved in the treatment and I'm happy for her opportunity. I was unable to attend the Georgia ride this year, which was earlier in September and will most likely not be able to attend the Jack and Back, either (my wife will be traveling on business and I get to stay home with three kids!). Thank you for the invitation; I'll definitely try to make both rides, both in Georgia and Tennessee, next year. If you need help with a final push on fund raising, let me know what I can do to help. I'll be glad to write about a "real life" example, my sister, and post it on the blog, which you can cut/paste into your fund raising letters/e-mails, etc. I can include pictures.
Thanks,
Frank Bowyer IV
